Holiday Camp!

Making the most of the school holidays and having some time for relaxation and recreation, the girls and staff in the SHE Rescue Home went on holiday! Off to camp for three days, staying at the Elephant Rolling Mountain Campsite which is situated at the bottom of a small mountain range in the south of Cambodia in Kampot Province.

So much yummy food was consumed with a BBQ for two nights - the girls were treated to amazing Khmer cooking, snacks and a whole pile of lollies. The girls had a dance party each night including one night where they had glow sticks for a dance in the dark night.

A lot of games were played - both traditional Khmer games as well as soccer, cards, badminton.

We were so proud of them as they climbed a big mountain, which was hardwork as it was a super hot day. They were rewarded with a spectacular view from the top looking out over the lush green Cambodian countryside.

Another day three former SHE girls came down from Phnom Penh and shared their stories - how they felt going into the home, what they did at the home and what going home is like. Two of the girls now work in hospitality and one is studying law so it was great for the girls to see they can go on to successful futures and hear inspirational stories from others that understand what they have gone through.

The girls said this was one of the highlights for them, hearing the older girls stories - that and the dance parties! Being able to arrange such special experiences for the girls is only possible because of your generous support.

Thank you for giving the girls a holiday to remember!
