ABOUT SreyLach*

Sreylach's* story is an unfortunately common story we have heard from girls in our care in the past. While her parents were working long hours to support their family, Sreylach* was often home alone. People known and trusted by the family took advantage of this knowledge and sexual exploited her, threatening her with violence, lies and manipulation. Once her mother discovered what was happening, she called the police and the perpetrators are on the run with warrants out for their arrest.

Sreylach* lives in Phnom Penh and didn’t want to leave her family so she has joined our community care program. This means we will be providing all of the same service but at her home (counselling, social work support, financial support, medical care and covering all educational expenses). This means she can be surrounded by the comfort of her family while still being given space to heal.

SREYLach’s* FAMILY

Sreylach* is living with her younger brother and parents in Phnom Penh. Her mother works long hours at a factory and her father works in construction. They are both very supporting of Sreylach* and have been asking for support and training on how to best help her.

SREYLach’S* FUTURE

We are working with her family to provide the safest, most comforting and secure space for her to recover. Her social worker and counsellor are building vital resources, skills and relationships in her family to make sure she has the best chance to thrive in the future.

As she wants to become teacher, she will need to graduate high school and head to university. We will be supporting her through school to achieve this dream.
