Sreypich* - A Story of Recovery: Waiting for Her Time to Heal
Sreypich* has endured more than any young girl ever should. Rescued from human trafficking and exploitation within her own home, she bravely told her mother what had been happening while her mother was at work. Her courage led to a police report against the perpetrator, who is now on the run. Since then, Sreypich* has been part of our SHE Community Care program, where we’ve provided her and her family with counselling, social work, and support for medical and educational needs while she is living at home.
But healing is a deeply personal journey, and Sreypich isn’t ready to engage with the support offered. She has distanced herself from her family, often staying away from home and avoiding contact. Despite this, we remain steadfast in ensuring she has a safe place to return to and the resources to rebuild when she’s ready. During rare moments, like coming home over the water festival, her family updates us on her well-being. Though she isn’t currently ready to receive counselling or working towards her dreams for the future, we’ve secured a vocational program for her future and will remain open and available when she’s ready to take those steps.
Sreypich* dream is to have her own salon one day. While that dream may feel far away, we believe in her resilience and potential. Healing cannot be rushed, and we are committed to being here when the time is right for her to reclaim her path. Thank you for standing with us as we hold space for Sreypich*, ensuring she knows she’s not alone and that hope is always within reach. Donate to help Sreypich* and girls like her today!
