Healing takes time!
In the first year of the SHE Rescue Home being opened, 14 girls were welcomed into the high security home.
It took 2 years of working with the girls, the families and their communities before 10 of these families were ready for the girls to reintegrate home. We continued supporting them at home until they were stable and thriving independently.
It was 5 years before we closed our first case.
It took 5 years before we saw these children back in safe family homes, in local school and living the bright childhoods they always should have been living.
It is now 9 years since we closed our first case
One of those girls from the first year is about to start university. She has worked diligently to finish high school. She will be the 5th girl we have seen go to college. All of them with dreams to help change Cambodia and their local communities.
One of those girls from that first year is now married with a son and working the front desk of a high-end hotel. She is on track to achieve her dream of managing or owning the hotel. Hear her tell her own story in this video below.
We have more than 100 other girls with their own stories of success, opportunity and hope.
We can do a lot in a year. But we never want to underestimate what we can do in the next 5 or 10 or 15 years.
The impact on these girls’ lives will be life changing! The ripple effects into their families, community, country and the international response to end human trafficking can be exponential with your help!
You can help us see more girls rescued, more girls given time to heal, more girl’s families given the support and opportunities they desperately need.
Have you considered setting up a monthly donation?
Regular donations help us to budget for each year and decide on how many girls we can successfully support and resource into the future. We average welcoming 9 new girls into our SHE Rescue Home each year but with more regular support we can help more girls.
