Incredible, supportive and brave families!
So often in our SHE Rescue Home we have girls being rescued from horrific circumstances made all the worse by parents, family members or family friends being the perpetrators, abusers, or victims themselves unable to protect their children. However, this year we have seen some incredible, supportive and brave families that have made an immense difference for their daughters that came into the SHE Rescue Home for safety.
Sreymoch* was just 14 years old when she came to the SHE Rescue Home in January of this year. One day, while catching transport to school, she was alone with the driver and the driver assaulted her. Fortunately, she was able to escape to a family friend's home, and contact her family.
Her father made sure she was safe and reported the attack to the police.
However the perpetrator escaped custody, so for her wellbeing her family requested a safe place for her to recover.
While at the SHE Rescue Home Sreymoch* struggled as she missed her family, and COVID19 restrictions made it nearly impossible for her to see them.
We always strive to do what is best for the girls.
Honouring her desires, Sreymoch* was reintegrated home sooner than initially planned as her parents have been very supportive and protective of her, and the local police are also involved in her case.
With the help of supporters like you, we have provided Sreymoch’s* father with a motorbike to safely get her to school. No longer is she vulnerable to attack on her way to school. Over the next three years we will continue support this amazing family and Sreymoch*.
Fortunately, the quick and safe reintegration of Sreymoch* is not an isolated story. Many* and Tevy* are two sisters who came to the safety of the SHE Rescue Home in 2019, and have successfully returned to the care of their mother.
Many*, 10, and Tevy, 8, were sexually assaulted regularly while their single mother was at work. As soon as their mother discovered the sexual exploitation of her children she informed the police, and with the help of the village chief, the police were able to arrest the perpetrator.
Many* and Tevy* successfully reintegrated into their community with the help of the loving home provided by their mother and the support of the local governing authorities.
Sreymoch*, Many*, and Tevy’s* stories are a reminder that a loving and caring environment can make a considerable difference in a girl’s healing process.
We’re excited to walk alongside these beautiful girls to see them thrive in their futures, where all past pain may be written into a powerful story of healing and beauty.
