Every girl’s case is different
Extreme poverty has left many families vulnerable to human trafficking and other forms of exploitation.
Vira* came to the SHE Rescue Home in late 2019 at the age of six after being rescued from living on the street.
Her father had been left disabled after a horrific accident leaving him unable to work.
With no source of income Vira*, her father, and her younger siblings were left homeless and begging on the streets for food and money.
As a result of the dangers of living on the streets and their father’s desire for them to be safe, Vira* was transferred to SHE Rescue due to suspected exploitation whilst Vira’s* siblings were accepted with a partner organisation that provides long-term care for vulnerable children, and supports them through university.
Recently, Vira’s* father was hospitalized to receive medical care for complications due to his injuries and ailing health. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated and he passed away. Vira* and her siblings were able to say goodbye and hold a funeral for him.
This was a heartbreaking loss with Vira* and her siblings having no extended family to support them.
We wanted Vira* to be cared for with her siblings as they are the only family members she has left. With the assistance of her counsellor and social worker we have moved Vira* to our partner organisation, so she can be with her sisters and brothers.
She has survived a lot in her seven years, and we are happy to know she now has access to an education and a safe environment.
The SHE Rescue Home and now our partner organisation have provided Vira and her siblings with a stable environment in which she can flourish and grow– as every child deserves.
