ABOUT Yara*

Yara* was 13 years old when she was rescued from the sexually exploited in my community. The perpetrator is currently in prison, but his family is threatening to harm her family and kill Yara*, prohibiting her from returning to live with her family.

Yara’s FAMILY

Yara’s mother left her family when she was very young and her father has raised her on his own. She has 8 siblings, but only 3 are still at home with her father. Her father supports the family, working hard as a laborer on farms. It is not safe for her to visit her family, so her social worker organizes for her to meet them regularly in a nearby town.

Yara’s FUTURE

Initially the aim was to make her home safe for reintegration . However, as this has not happened over the past few years the aim is now to find safe accomodation or dormitories for her to stay in while she finishes her studies.
